Wednesdays forecast – Unrelenting High pressure!
First day back at work today after a long weekend and for me the weather quite frankly whilst being decent was rather boring… its quiet mundane.
Its a fairly overcast end to the day for much of the Western Isles with quite a bit of drizzle around a moderate breeze. Overnight tonight the cloud is forecast to remain and more showers around mainly light in nature.
Into tomorrow morning and its forecast to be an overcast start to the day. With the risk of some mist and fog patch. Always a high chance of some drizzle and light rain. We should see some breaks in the cloud and get some decent sunny spells for a time.
Into the afternoon and all being well the cloud will shift and we should see a fine, dry and sunny afternoon with prolonged sunshine. It should remain fine and dry into the evening with clear skies being forecast as we go overnight into Thursday.
Winds tomorrow from a Southerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 20 mph and in exposed coastal areas reaching 30 mph.Temps will range from 10C to 16C

High pressure remains firmly in charge for the week ahead. Hopefully the cloud won’t prove to stubborn to shift and we get some prolonged sunshine. We should see some an increase on the Temperatures during the course of the week.
Sunday Night / Monday
There is a quite a bit of cloud around tonight that bringing with it some drizzle and a few showers but for most its a dry end to the day with some decent evening sunshine. Its going to be a mostly overcast and dry night and into tomorrow. Into tomorrow and there is a risk of some mist and fog patches developing by the early hours of tomorrow morning. The cloud is expected to dominate across the Northern Half of the Western Isles and we are forecast to see some showers by the late afternoon and early evening, Despite this we should see some decent sunny spells in the breaks in the cloud. The Southern half should remain largely fine and dry the odd light shower cannot be ruled out and we should some prolonged sunshine. There will be still be quite a bit of cloud around. Winds will be from a Northerly and North Westerly direction around 10 mph with some gusts reaching 20 mph. Temps will range from 9C to 14C
Overnight Monday into Tuesday is forecast to be fine and dry with a lot of cloud around. Into Tuesday morning and we will see some showers push in these will be mostly light in nature. The rest of Tuesday is forecast to be fine and dry with plenty of cloud around, Hopefully in the breaks in the cloud we should see some decent sunny spells. Winds will shift to come in from a Southerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 20 mph and temps 9C to 15C
Will all depend on how stubborn the cloud is to shift. Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday is forecast to be fine and dry but overcast. Into Wednesday morning and its forecast to start overcast but when the cloud clears we should see some prolonged sunshine. As the day goes on the cloud should hopefully clear leading to some decent Autumn sunshine and temperatures are forecast to increase. It should stay fine and dry as we go into the evening and overnight into Thursday however we will see more cloud push in. Winds will be from a Southerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 20 mph. Temps will range from 11C to 17C
Looks like being a beautiful day. Overnight Wednesday into Thursday will see more cloud push into the Western Isles but is forecast to stay dry. Into the morning and we should see the cloud start to shift away and when it does we should have a day of wall to wall sunshine. It should be a fine and dry end to the day. Little or no rain is forecast at the moment. Winds will be start off overnight Wednesday into Thursday coming from a South Westerly and Southerly direction moving to come in from a South Easterly direction by the evening. Winds are forecast to be under 10 mph with the odd gust reaching 20 mph. Temps will range from 11C to 18C
A long way off as yet but overnight Thursday into Friday is forecast to be clear and dry. We should see some decent morning sunshine. However the cloud is forecast to roll back in once again, The rest of the day is forecast to be sunshine and cloud but is expected to stay dry. Winds under 10 mph from a Southerly and South Easterly direction. Temps will range from 12C to 19C

Thursday night/ Friday
Rain is pushing into the Southern half of the Western Isles at the moment. The Northern Half is mainly dry apart from a few showers close to the coasts. The rain is forecast to become heavier and spread across all parts of the Western Isles overnight tonight. The rain will start to clear away as we go into the early hours of tomorrow morning. Now depending on how stubborn the cloud is to shift. We should see a fine dry start tomorrow morning with some prolonged sunshine. Tomorrow morning is expected to stay fine and dry with some decent sunshine how ever the cloud will never be to far away, The afternoon will be split across the Western Isles the Southern Half will see sunshine and cloud the Northern Half will see sunshine and rain. The rain is forecast to be mostly light in nature. The cloud is forecast to thicken in as we go overnight Friday into Saturday. Winds will be from a Northerly and North Westerly direction around 10 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph in exposed coastal locations. Temps around 9C to 15C so a little cooler then late.
More rain is forecast spread into the Western Isles overnight Friday into Saturday the heaviest is being forecast for the Northern Half. Into Saturday day time and there will be some decent morning sunshine but there is a lot of cloud forecast and a few showers around. The afternoon is where we should see the best of the fine weather with some decent afternoon sunshine being forecast. The cloud is forecast to spread back in during the evening and some light rain is expected as we go overnight Saturday into Sunday. Winds are forecast to be from a Northerly and North Westerly direction around 10 t 20 mph gusting 30 mph. Temps around 10C to 14C
Possibly the best day of the Weekend but still feeling cooler. The best of the sunshine is again forecast for the morning and there will be plenty of cloud around again. Some afternoon rain buts its forecast to be mostly light in nature. This rain is forecast to clear with a mostly dry but overcast end to the day. Winds are forecast to be from a Northerly and North Westerly direction around 20 to 30 mph with some higher gusts reaching 40 mph on exposed coastal areas. Temps around 10C to 14C

High pressure still dominating our weather but it remain cooler.

Its a mostly fine end to the night across the Western Isles. Some sunny spells and some light drizzle in places.
Overnight is forecast to be mostly fine and dry. The cloud is expected to dominate and there is a risk of some light rain and drizzle.
Into tomorrow morning and it will be an overcast start with some light showers around. If the cloud breaks we should see some sunshine. Into the afternoon and the cloud will break in places and we see sunshine and cloud with some light rain.
Into the evening and the cloud is forecast to thicken in once again. We will see some heavy rain push into the Northern Half of the Western Isles. The Southern Half is forecast to be miss the heaviest but will some light rain. The rain will continue as we go overnight Thursday into Friday.
Winds overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning are forecast to be around 10 to 20 mph. As the day goes on winds are forecast to be around 10 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph before decreasing by the end of the day to under 20 mph. Winds overnight will be from a South Easterly direction and then shifting to come in from a Southerly and South Westerly direction for the rest of tomorrow. Temps will range from 12C to 17C

Summer 2014 review.
Overall I think its been a good summer. Its been a fairly warm one and we reached the highest temperature in Stornoway since 2003 with a temperature of 25C in July.
We had a number of days where we was the hottest place in the entire UK
August according to Dr Eddy Grahams Weather blog was the Wettest in Stornoway since 1992 with 185.1 mm of rain falling.
We had some decent thunderstorms and fairly frequent thunderstorms including a highlight for me the storm off the coast of Point.
We had Some decent Noctilucent clouds.
2 tornadoes where reported in Harris and we had a number of funnel clouds spotted across the Western Isles.

Wednesdays forecast – Sunshine and cloud.
High pressure is dominating our weather at the moment. Its a mostly dry end to the day across the Western Isles. Some drizzle and light showers in places but nothing to significant.
Overnight tonight is going to be fairly overcast, some breaks in the cloud and a few light showers are possible.
Into tomorrow and all day tomorrow its going to be roughly the same. Lot of cloud around but in the breaks in the cloud we should see some sunshine and if we lucky in places we could see some prolonged sunshine. The best of the sunshine looks like being during the late afternoon and early evening but the cloud thickens back in again. It will be a mostly dry day but some light rain and drizzle are possible.
Winds will be from a Southerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 20 mph reaching 30 mph in more exposed coastal locations and temps will range from 12C to 17C
