A scattering of showers and some evening sunshine to end the weekend. Heavy rain and at times Strong Winds for Monday. The rain could be very heavy and intense at times on Monday. The worst being in the afternoon and early evening. Sunshine and Showers for Tuesday. Much of the Same for Wednesday and Thursday with some decent and prolonged sunshine at times. It will always be fairly breezy during these days. Temps will increase from mid week onward we could see 15C at times. Friday looks like being the least windy day but a chance of some rain. On this Sunday evening we have a scattering of blustery showers pushing across the Western Isles. Some of these are heavy and intense at tomes. Else where some places are enjoying some decent and prolonged evening sunshine. Some fairly gusty winds 41 mph in Stornoway at 5 pm and 47 mph at 11 am South Uist.

Monday

Overnight Sunday into Monday and we are going to see more rain push across the Western Isles. The rain is forecast to be quite scattered and patchy. In the breaks in the cloud we are going to see some clear spells and we could even see some decent and at times prolonged early morning sunshine. Into Monday morning and we are going to see a scattering of shower around and some decent morning sunshine. However cloud will thicken in by late morning and with it will come heavy rain. Into the afternoon and we are expected to see very intense rainfall for a time. The rain should start to clear by the evening for the Southern Half of the Western Isles. Staying fairly heavy for the Northern Half of the Western Isles. Winds will be around 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Winds will be from a Southerly and South Westerly direction shifting to come from a South Easterly and Easterly direction from the afternoon onwards. Temps will range from 4C to 12C

Tuesday

Overnight Monday into Tuesday we are forecast to see heavy rain across the Northern Half of the Western Isles start to clear away. We will still have a few showers here. The Southern half is forecast to stay mostly dry the odd light shower cannot be ruled out and some decent early morning sunshine is expected. Into Tuesday day time and there will be plenty of cloud around but in the breaks in the cloud we should see some decent and at times prolonged sunshine. A scattering of light showers is possible. We should see a fine and mostly dry end to the day on Tuesday. Winds will be from a Northerly and North Westerly direction around 10 to 40 mph. Temps will range from 6C to 13C

Wednesday

Looks like being the best day of the week. Plenty of cloud around overnight Tuesday into Wednesday but should stay mostly dry. Into Wednesday day time there will be a scattering of showers of light showers around but for most it should be fine and dry. With Some decent and prolonged sunshine. The very best of the Sunshine is forecast across the Southern Half of the Western Isles. We will see the cloud increase as we go into the evening. With it we are expected to see a few light showers around. Winds will be from a Westerly and South Westerly direction around to 10 to 30 mph. Temps will range from 6C to 14C temps slowly starting to increase.

Thursday

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday we are going to see plenty of clear spells and a chance of some light showers. Into Thursday day time. Into Thursday we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and showers. The best of the sunshine is forecast over the Northern half of the Western Isles. more cloud is forecast for the Southern Half. The rain is expected to be mostly light however we could see some heavier showers across parts of the Western Isles. The cloud is forecast to thicken in as we go overnight into Friday. Winds will be from a Southerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 30 mph. Temps will range from 7C to 15C

Friday

A long way off as yet so plenty can change. Overnight Thursday into Friday is forecast to be mainly fine and dry with plenty of cloud around. Into Friday day time and there is going to be some rain but its expected to be mostly light in nature. The cloud will dominate on Friday. Winds are forecast to be light around 10 to 20 mph from a Westerly and South Westerly direction. Temps will range from 7C to 14C

Complicated start to summer

A large part of the UK is under a Yellow weather warning from the Met office, At this stage the Western Isles. Is NOT included in the warnings.

At this stage Monday into Tuesday the low pressure is forecast to track North of Scotland and sparing us from the very worst of the winds. However things are changing constantly as summed up by this extract from the Met office warning

“Developments are complex so there is still considerable uncertainty in details of these developments, especially by Tuesday, when it may be less windy across parts of the south.”

Morning sleepyness, lasting into the afternoon slow to clear. This will be followed by frequent yawning in the evening.

On This Sunday morning at around 08:50 we have heavy rain affecting the Northern Half of the Western Isles. The rain has cleared from the Southern Half.

Winds hit 45 mph South Uist range on Saturday at 8am.

Its a messy situation out in the Atlantic at the moment with a couple of areas of Low pressure.

The first half of the new week looks unsettled.

Sundays forecast – Wet and windy.

On this Sunday evening we have some across the Northern Half of the Western Isles. A band of rain is now spreading into the Southern Half of the Western Isles. This is at around 7:30 pm.

The rain is going to spread further across the Western Isles as the evening goes on.

Heavy rain is forecast to spread across the entire Western Isles and at times this rain could be intense in nature. We could see a lot of surface water on the roads and the will be accompanied by strengthening winds.

There will be more heavy rain as we go into the Sunday morning. The rain should start becoming lighter across the Southern Half of the Western Isles as the morning goes on.

Into the afternoon and we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and rain. Some heavier spells or rain are possible but it should be mostly light. In the breaks in the cloud we should see some decent sunshine and at times even prolonged sunshine.

The rain should become lighter for many as we move overnight into Monday. There will be some heavier showers but for most it should start to become drier.

Winds will be from an Easterly and South Easterly direction before shifting during the early hours of Sunday to come from a Westerly direction. The strongest of the winds will be across the Southern Half of the Western Isles. Winds around 10 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph across the Southern Half of the Western Isles. Temps will range from 6C to 10C but will feel more 2 to 4C in the wind chill.

Wet and Windy Weather

We have two areas to keep an eye on at the moment.

Firstly Sunday is looking very wet and windy. Will do an in depth look at Sunday when I do the forecast later today. Winds could hit 50 mph for a time.

Next we have Tuesday now a good few days off as yet so plenty can and will change a deep area of low pressure something we would more associate with Autumn / Winter is going to affect the Western Isles on Tuesday. Winds could reach 50 to 60 mph. With more heavy rain.

The more settled drier and warmer weather looks to kick in from mid week onwards. I will keep you posted as ever on this unsettled end to spring and start to summer.

On this Saturday morning we have some bands of rain affecting the Northern Half of the Western Isles at around 8:45am.

The Southern Half is fairing a little better. Some rain pushing in here but its lighter in nature.

The rain should clear away as the morning goes on.

Plenty of cloud around this morning but some decent breaks in the cloud, In particular across the Southern Half across Barra and South Uist.

Sunniest place in the Highlands and Eilean Siar on Friday was Stornoway with 8.1 hrs on Sunshine.

The next few day are looking increasingly unsettled before things start to settle down from mid week onwards.

Saturdays forecast – Sunshine and some rain

On this Friday evening we have a few showers spreading across the Western Isles. A few heavy and intense ones. Some more heavy and intense showers are likely to push across Lewis and Harris during the next few hours.
Overnight Friday into Saturday and we are going to see Some more heavy rain for the Northern Half of the Western Isles. A few light showers for the Southern Half.
Into Saturday day time and we are going to see a few showers across the Northern Half of the Western Isles. They are forecast to be mostly light in nature. We could see some heavier bursts. We should see some decent and at times prolonged sunshine.
The Southern Half is expected to stay dry most of the day some rain cannot be ruled out and there will be some cloud here but we should see some decent and prolonged sunshine here.
The cloud is forecast to thicken in by late evening. We could see some rain spread in by late evening across the Southern Half of the Western Isles. Winds will be from a North Westerly and Westerly direction shifting to come South Westerly by tomorrow afternoon then Shifting South Easterly by the evening around 10 to 20 mph with some gusts reaching 30 mph. Temps will range from 6C to 12C

Few heavy showers around on this Thursday evening. Friday will see overnight showers clearing away. Some decent prolonged sunshine. Some heavy rain at times. A fairly dry evening for Friday with some showers around. Saturday best day of the weekend with some decent and prolonged sunshine. Best of this being across the Southern Half. Cloud thickening by the afternoon and evening. Sunday looks like being the worst day of the weekend. Heavy rain overnight Saturday into Sunday. A showery start for Sunday morning plenty of cloud around. Into the afternoon and we should see some drier conditions and some sunshine. Winds will be strong on Sunday gusting 50 mph at times. Into the evening and there is still going to be some showers around but it should be a fairly dry evening with some decent and at times prolonged sunshine. Winds will be from a North Westerly direction around 10 to 30 mph. Temps will range from 4C to 11C

Saturday

We are going to see some overnight rain across the Western isles. The odd heavier shower is possible. Into Saturday day time and we are looking at the best day of the weekend. We are forecast to see a mostly fine and dry day across the entire Western Isles. Some light showers are possible. The best of the sunshine across the Northern Half of the Western Isles will be during the morning but more cloud thickens in. The Southern Half should see less in the way of cloud with some prolonged sunshine at times. The afternoon should be mostly fine and dry. Plenty of cloud around. Into the evening and should start off dry but the cloud will thicken in and we could see some rain start to push in as we go overnight into Sunday. Winds will be from a Westerly and North Westerly direction to start the day on Saturday but will shift to come in from a Southerly and South Easterly direction by late afternoon and into the evening around 10 to 30 mph and temps will range from 6C to 12C

Sunday

Heavy rain will sweep across the Western Isles Overnight Saturday into Sunday. The heaviest of the rain will be across the Southern Half of the Western isles. Into Sunday day time and its going to be a day of blustery and at times heavy showers pushing across the Western Isles. The heaviest being across the Northern half of the Western Isles. Despite the showery conditions we should still see some decent and possible prolonged afternoon sunshine. The cloud is forecast to be thick during the morning. Winds will be from a Westerly and South Westerly direction around 20 to 40 mph with some gusts reaching 50 mph. Temps will range from 6C to 12C

We have some heavy rain moving across the Western Isles at around 8:40 am most of this reason is scattered but we have a band of rain moving across Lewis.

Plenty of cloud around across the Western isles this morning, But there are plenty of breaks in the cloud giving us some decent and possibly prolonged sunshine.

Sunniest place in the Highlands and Eilean Siar on Thursday was Stornoway with 1.7 hrs of Sunshine..

Thursdays forecast – Sunshine and rain

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday and we are going to see some rain clearing away form the Western Isles. There are still going to be some showers around but in the breaks we are going to see some decent clear spells.

We should see some decent morning sunshine and plenty of cloud around. Now the rain will never be to far away and is likely to become heavier and more intense as the morning goes on. Despite the showers in the breaks in the cloud we should see some decent and at times prolonged sunshine.

The same theme will continue into the afternoon and evening. With some rain that will be heavy and intense at times. Some drier spells and in the breaks in the cloud some decent sunshine.

Into the evening and we will finally start to see the rain clearing and some decent dry spells there will be a few scattered showers around that will be hard to shift.

Winds will be from a Westerly direction around 10 to 40 mph. Temps will range from 4C to 11C but will feel colder in the wind chill.

on this Wednesday morning we have a fairly dry morning across the Western Isles at just after half 9 we have some light rain and drizzle.

There is a lot of rain to the South of us at the moment across Ireland.

A low pressure near Iceland will influence our weather during the next couple of days.

The weather looks set to stay unsettled into the Weekend and into the early part of June.

Netweather issued there Monthly look out the weather ahead. They are predicting a much more settled June. With high pressure taking charge. Sunshine and drier weather for a sustained period of time.

On this Wednesday early morning I think not used to doing the forecast so late or early? will its nearly 1 am. We have some rain clearing away from the North of Lewis as I type.

Now for the rest of Wednesday night into the morning and we are going to see plenty of cloud around some rain which could be heavy at times but for most places its going to be light rain and drizzle.

Into Wednesday morning we are going to see some light rain and drizzle around. plenty of cloud around but some sunny spells in the breaks in the cloud.

Into the afternoon and we are going to see some drier spells for a time. Some decent and prolonged sunshine in the breaks in the cloud. However there are going to be some heavy and intense bursts at times in particular across the Southern Half of the Western Isles.

The best of the sunshine is likely across the Northern Half of the Western Isles during the late afternoon and evening. There will be some rain around here and more heavy and at times intense showers across the Southern Half in between the showers we should still see some decent sunshine.

Winds will be from a Westerly and South Westerly direction around 20 to 40 mph. Temps will range from 6C to 12C but will feel colder in the wind chill.

On This Tuesday morning there is plenty of light rain and drizzle around across the Western Isles.

The 7 am Satellite Image shows cloud across the Western Isles.

Long range and the Weather is still unsettled with low pressure staying close by.

The first few days of June based on most recent computer models is suggesting a wet and windy start.

As you can see I am scrapping the bottom of the barrel for anything for the morning briefing today.. Also even harder is to find some actual good news…

Across the Western Isles on this Monday Morning its a fairly dry start to the day. We have some light rain across the middle of Lewis at around 08:30 and some showers just off the Western coast of Harris.

Plenty of cloud around this Monday morning but we are seeing some breaks in the cloud giving some decent sunshine.

We have a few showers across the Western Isles on this Sunday evening. Monday looks like being the best day of the week with some decent sunshine and mostly dry day. Tuesday looks awful with light rain and drizzle with near enough total cloud domination. Winds will be a feature all week around 10 to 40 mph. Wednesday , Thursday and Friday will see rain and at times this rain will be heavy, Some sunshine but the cloud is expected to dominate. Temps are expected around 6C to 12C nothing to cold nor to warm either. Long range staying unsettled.

Overnight Sunday into Monday and we are going to see some showers spread across the Western Isles. They are forecast to be mostly light in nature. Into Monday morning and the rain is forecast to clear away. It should be a mostly dry morning. The cloud is expected to dominate. However we should see some decent sunshine in the breaks in the cloud. Into the afternoon and evening and this is where we are forecast to see the best of the sunshine. There will still be a lot of cloud around but we should see some prolonged sunshine. By late evening cloud is forecast to thicken back in once again. We will see some rain spread in buts its forecast to be mostly light. Winds will be from a Westerly and North Westerly direction around 10 to 30 mph. Temps will range from 6C to 12C but will feel colder in the wind chill.

Tuesday

ugh.. Overnight Monday into Tuesday and we are going to see a cloud dominated night. Light rain and drizzle is forecast. Into Tuesday day time and its the same theme all day. Cloud dominate. Rain mostly light some heavier bursts. Little or no sunshine and drizzle. Winds from a Westerly and North Westerly direction around 10 to 40 mph. Temps of 6C to 11C

Wednesday

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. We are forecast to see rain spread across the Western Isles. The rain is going to be heavy at times the heaviest of the rain is forecast across the Northern Half of the Western Isles. Some light rain is forecast for Wednesday morning and we should see some decent sunny spells in the breaks in the cloud. Into the afternoon and more heavy rain is forecast for the entire Western Isles. The heavy rain is forecast to last into Thursday across the Southern Half of the Western Isles but become lighter for the Northern Half. Winds will be from a Westerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 40 mph and temps will range from 6C to 12C

Some heavy overnight rain as we go overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Into Thursday morning and more heavy rain is forecast for the Northern Half of the Western Isles. Lighter rain forecast for the Southern Half with some decent and possibly prolonged sunshine. Into the afternoon and its going to be a mix of sunshine and showers these are going to be heavy at times. Should be dry as we go overnight into Friday.
