Thursdays forecast – Sunshine, cloud and rain. 3/6/15

On this Wednesday evening we have a fairly dry end to the day. With some decent evening sunshine. Some rain across Lewis at the moment. Some heavier rain is just clearing away from South Uist and Benbecula.

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday and we are going to see a fine and mostly dry night a few odd light shower cannot be ruled out. We are going to see some decent clear skies at times. In the early hours of Thursday morning and we are going to see some decent morning sunshine.

The best of the Sunshine is forecast for Thursday morning we are likely to see some prolonged sunshine across much of the Western Isles. There will be some cloud around.

Into the afternoon and the cloud is forecast to thicken in. Now its expected to stay dry to start with but as the afternoon goes on we are forecast to see some rain spread in.

The rain is expected to become heavier across the Northern Half of the Western Isles as we go into the evening. The Southern Half is forecast to see some rain but its expected to be lighter here and we should see some decent dry spells in between.

Winds overnight Wednesday into Thursday will come from a South Westerly direction before shifting to come Southerly and South Easterly direction. Winds will be around 10 to 20 mph. temps will range from 5C to 13C

On this Tuesday evening we have a scattering of showers around. They are mostly light in nature. Some of them are a little heavier and we are seeing some decent evening sunshine. Just before the sun sets.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday and we are going to see a scattering of showers spread across the Western Isles. There is going to be plenty of cloud around. but in the breaks we should see some decent clear spells and into the early hours of Wednesday morning we are going to see some decent early morning sunshine.

Into Wednesday morning and we are going to see some decent and at time prolonged morning sunshine and again a scattering of showers around. They should be mostly light. There will be some cloud around.

The afternoon and evening and we are going to see more of the same. Sunshine again it will be decent and prolonged at times. There will be some cloud around a scattering showers. A chance of some drizzle but for most places it should stay dry.

It should be fine and dry as we go overnight into Thursday with some decent clear spells. Winds will be from a Westerly and North Westerly direction before shifting Wednesday afternoon coming from a Westerly and South Westerly direction around 10 to 30 mph. Temps will range from 5C to 12C

At around 9 am this Tuesday morning we have some rain across the Northern Half of the Western Isles sinking further South and Some rain clearing away from Barra.

At 7 am this morning we have plenty of clouds around but some breaks in the cloud allowing for some decent morning sunshine.

Sunniest place in the Highlands & Eilean Siar on Monday was Stornoway with 6.3 hrs of Sunshine.

Light winds this morning across the Western Isles under 15 mph

Things for next couple of days are going to become a lot more settled as high pressure takes control.

Tuesdays forecast – Improving 1/6/15

On this Monday evening we still have strong winds and rain affecting much of the Western Isles. The Southern Half of the Western Isles is still under a weather warning till 18:00 Tuesday evening. Will update if anything changes.

Now the very heaviest rain has now cleared away we are still seeing some heavy rain for parts of the Western Isles but its expected to further clear away as we go overnight into Tuesday.

Overnight Monday into Tuesday and we are going to see a fairly dry night. With some showers around they could be heavy at times but most are forecast to be mostly light. We should see some decent clear spells at times.

Into Tuesday morning and there is going to be a fair amount of cloud around. Mostly light rain and chance of some drizzle. A few odd light showers around but in the breaks we should see some decent sunshine.

Into the afternoon and evening we are going to see more drier spells. There are going to be a few afternoon showers around. Now under clearing skies we are likely to see some decent at times prolonged sunshine. Especially across the Southern Half of the Western Isles. We should see a dry end to the day with clearing skies and no rain.

Winds on Tuesday will be from a Northerly and North Westerly direction around 10 to 30 mph. Temps will range from 5C to 12C

Afternoon update – 1/6/15

The Weather warning came into force for the Southern Half of the Western Isles at 14:00. We are still going to see strong winds across the Western Isles but these are not expected to meet the Met offices alert criteria as of 15:30 Monday afternoon. The full warning can be found pinned to the top of the page.

As well as the strong winds we will also see very heavy rain this is now pushing across much of the Western Isles and this could lead to tricky driving conditions at times.

A Yellow Weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met office for the Southern Half of the Western isles as of 08:28 and comes in force at 14:00 Monday morning.

On Facebook and Twitter the warning can be found pinned to the top of the page.

Rain could also be an issue on Monday and Tuesday which could lead to tricky driving conditions at times.

At around 09:00 on this Monday morning we have a fairly dry start to the day with some scattered heavy showers waiting out in the Atlantic.

At 7 am this Morning there was some fairly patchy cloud around and some decent sunny spells in the breaks in the cloud.

The center of a Low pressure bringing us the strong winds and heavy rain is forecast to track right over the Western Isles in the next 24 hrs.

Sunniest place in the Highland and Eilean Siar on Sunday was Stornoway with 6.7 hours of Sunshine.
