Western Isles Weather White Christmas forecast – Number 3.

The days are racing past now with just two weeks till the big day. 2 weeks is still a very long time in weather and we are back looking at a settled period for Christmas day with the greatest risk of snowfall in Scotland across the Highlands. The problem with December is out the 3 months of winter it tends to be the mildest. As recent day temperatures in the high single figures and pushing towards double figures attests to that.

December 2015 even recorded temperatures of 17.2C in some locations in the UK. Sea temperatures at this time of year still tend to be relatively warm. So this has an impact on air-masses that go over it.

So at this stage I would suggest we have about 40% chance of seeing a Western Isles White Christmas.

I will do another update as we go towards the Weekend. Daily updates will start on Tuesday!

Evening….. Further rain. Cloud dominating. Winds increasing again. 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph.
