Tuesdays forecast – Wintry

Good evening Western Isles on this Monday evening we are seeing rain sleet and snow showers moving across the Western isles. Winds have eased from the earlier peak.

A reminder a Met Office Yellow weather warning comes into force for ice for the Western Isles from 00:00 Tuesday morning and expires at 12:00 Tuesday afternoon. The full warning can be found via the Met Office website or app.

Overnight – We are going to see further sleet and snow showers falling across the Western Isles. In places falling as rain. We are going to see frost and ice forming. We could see a covering of snow in places by the morning. Winds of 5 to 30 mph.

Morning – Further squally wintry showers. Some of the heavy and possibly thundery. Frost and ice widespread a bitterly cold wind chill. Increasing amounts of sunshine for late morning. Prolonged sunshine at times. Winds of 5 to 20 mph.

Afternoon – Sunshine again prolonged at times. Further squally wintry showers again could be thundery. Winds of 5 to 20 mph.

Evening – Increasing amounts of wintry showers as the evening goes on. We could see further accumulations to lower ground. Some mist and low cloud. Winds of 5 to 25 mph

Winds will be Westerly and North Westerly direction and temps will range from -1C to 6C
