On this Saturday morning we are seeing a wet morning across the Western isles. A good day for ducks 🦆. We are also seeing strong gusty winds. Winds are already gusting up to 40 mph.
A reminder a Met office yellow warning for snow and ice comes into force at 18:00 this evening and expires at 11:00 Sunday morning. The full warning can be found via the Met office website or app.
Today – further heavy and persistent rain for much of this morning and afternoon. We are going to see the rain turning increasing wintry later. Squally wintry showers. Snow over higher ground. Maybe a dusting to lower levels. Risk of thunderstorms later. Frost and ice possible in sheltered spots. Winds gusting 40/50 mph and a little stronger across the Uists and Barra gusting 60/65 mph.
Sunday – windy start with gales or severe gales. Squally wintry showers. A mixture of sunshine and cloud.
Monday – winds ease and further wintry showers.
Tuesday – becoming more settled.
