Across the highlands and islands on Sunday Stornoway was the wettest with 10.6 mm of rain.

Today – showery rain throughout the day. Merging into longer spells of rain at times. In between some decent and prolonged sunshine. Blustery winds that will eventually ease as we go Into the evening.

Tuesday – wet and windy once again with gales.

Wednesday – overcast with further spells of rain. Staying blustery.

Thursday – mild and breezy with further rain.

So in the upcoming week the Atlantic continues to flex its muscles. Plenty of wind and rain but staying mild.

Tuesday – Will start off dry but winds will increase and we will see heavy rain spread across the Western isles to end the day. Winds will be 5 to 40 mph from a variable directions and temps will range from 4C to 9C

Wednesday – Will see further spells of rain through out the day which again will be heavy at times. Some sunny spells in between. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph from a Southerly and South Westerly direction. Temps will range from 6C to 11C

Thursday – Is expected to be for most a dry day. Some light rain and drizzle. its going to be feeling very mild. The cloud is going to dominate and its going to be windy. South and South Westerly winds around 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Temps will range from 7C to 13C

Friday – A little bit of uncertainty as yet as its a long way out but we could see gales of sever gales for a time. It should be mostly dry. The odd light shower is possible but the cloud will dominate. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 possibly 60 mph. Temps will range from 9C to 13C

Good evening Western Isles on this Sunday evening we are seeing showers moving across the Western Isles. Some of these are heavy and thundery in nature.

Overnight – We are going to see showers moving across the Western Isles. These will be heavy and carried along by blustery winds. Some clear skies in between the showers. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph.

Morning – Further showers that could merge into some longer spells of rain at times. in between some decent sunny spells. Winds ease a little but staying blustery. Winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Afternoon – A fairly dry afternoon is forecast. A few showers. Plenty of sunshine and variable amounts of cloud. Winds easing further. Winds of 20 to 30 mph.

Sunday’s forecast in brief

Good morning I know what you are thinking. But I am taking a rare night off from the page tonight as I am having a night out in with friends to celebrate my birthday. I will update again tomorrow morning. For now just a quick Sunday update.

Sunday will be a breezy day with showers and some of these will be heavy at times. Some sunny spells best of these in the afternoon. Winds will gust 30/40 mph easing for a time mid morning. It will turn chilly later so a risk of some of these showers turning wintry later especially over higher ground. Temps of 2C to 7C
