Morning and afternoon – Across the Uists and Barra we are going to see plenty of sunshine, prolonged and even wall to wall sunshine. Winds will be light. For Lewis and Harris the cloud will dominate here. Some light rain and drizzle. The cloud will be stubborn to shift but a few sunny spells. Winds of 0 to 10 mph with some rouge gusts reaching 15 mph.

Evening – Again more sunshine and then clear skies for the Uist and Barra. Lewis and Harris mainly staying under the cloud. A few sunny spells here. Winds of 0 to 10 mph.

Tuesday 30th April Weather Watch

Good afternoon Western isles on this Tuesday afternoon we are seeing overcast conditions across the Western isles. Some light rain and drizzle. Some sunny spells. Winds are gusting 30/40 mph across the Uists and Barra. Under 10 mph for most of Lewis and Harris

The rest of today is going to see further spells of rain that could become persistent at times. Some clear spells later.

Wednesday is going to see a North and south split. Light rain and drizzle with a lot of cloud for Lewis and Harris. Plenty of sunshine and prolonged sunshine Uists and Barra.

Low pressure sits to the West of Scotland. A cold front stretching down from the North will bring colder air and risk of frost for the coming days.

Thursday will see an overcast day. It will become colder as the day goes on. Some light rain and drizzle is possible.

The Azores high sits across the South West of the UK. The cold front racing down from the North spreads across the UK.

Friday a colder day. Mostly overcast but fairly dry. Some light rain and drizzle. Risk of some frost and ice as we go overnight into Saturday.

The cold front continues to push down the UK. High pressure sits to the south.

Long range and staying on the chilly side for May as we head into next week.

Overnight – We are going to see a mixture of clear skies and cloud. A few showers are possible but for most its going to stay dry. Winds of 5 to 10 mph but gusting 20 to 30 mph across the Uists and Barra.

Morning – To start we will see some decent and prolonged sunshine. However cloud will rapidly increase and move into all areas. A few showers are likely but these are expected to be mostly confined to the Uists and Barra. Winds will be 10 to 20 mph gusting 20 to 40 mph across the Uists and Barra.

Afternoon – We are going to see an increase in the number of showers. Some of these will be heavy at times. In the breaks in the showers some decent sunny spells. Winds of 10 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph across the Uists and Barra.

Evening – Will see the winds ease down across the Western Isles. Further showers once again. A few of these will be heavy at times. In between some decent sunny spells but plenty of cloud around. Winds of 5 to 15 mph.

Monday 29th April Weather Watch

Good afternoon Western isles on this Monday afternoon we are seeing fairly mild conditions but breezy with the best of the sunshine across the Uists and Barra.

Recent radar highlights the settled conditions

Fairly overcast a few sunny spells earlier with today’s view from space

Tuesday we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and showers. Some of the showers will be heavy at times. It’s going to be a breezy. Winds of 10/30 mph.

Low pressure sits to our west and high pressure sits to our east with a cold front across Ireland. Now see the cold front across Norway keep an eye on it.

Wednesday is going to see more settled conditions as the cold front clears away. Plenty of prolonged sunshine across the Uists and Barra. Light winds, more cloud for Lewis and Harris with patchy rain.

You still watching that cold front?! It’s surging south. It will bring cold air further south with risk of the odd wintry shower and night time frost later in the week. But fo now low pressure 1008 mb will bring unsettled conditions to the UK.

Thursday a Northerly wind sets up as the cold air pushes southwards. Could be some ferry disruption winds gusting 30/40 mph. We will see some showers these could be heavy and a chance wintry.

Across the UK the cold front slides southwards. Turning colder. High pressure sits to the south of the UK.

Long range staying fairly settled as we go into the weekend. But staying on the cool side.

Across the highlands and islands on Sunday Stornoway was the sunniest with 8.5 hours of sunshine and Harris Quidnish had the lowest maximum temperature of 11.7C

Today – a fairly cloud dominated day. Some sunshine. Increasing amounts of sunshine by the afternoon and early evening. Some light rain and drizzle at times. Some mist and low cloud this evening. Winds light across Lewis and Harris gusting 20/30 mph across Uists and Barra

Tuesday – will be a mixture of sunshine and showers.

Wednesday- will see another day of sunshine and showers. Some of these heavy at times.

Thursday and Friday – turning increasingly colder with showers and a strong northerly wind. Some of these showers could be wintry in nature.

Good evening Western isle on this Sunday evening we are seeing increasing amounts of cloud pushing across the Western Isles. Still plenty of sunshine. But we are seeing some rain over the Uists and Barra this is mostly light.

Overnight – We are going to see quite a lot of cloud around. Thickest across the Uists and Barra. Some light rain and drizzle. More breaks in the cloud across Lewis and Harris where its expected to be more patchy. Some mist and fog patches are likely. Winds of 5 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph across the Uists and Barra.

Morning and afternoon – Look set to be a North and South split with more in the way of sunshine across Lewis and Harris but plenty of stubborn cloud. The Uists and Barra  are expected to be more overcast with the cloud dominating. Some light rain and drizzle the odd heavier shower cannot be ruled out. Winds of 5 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph across the Uists and Barra.

Evening – Its expected to be mostly fine and dry. The cloud should break across most areas. With plenty of sunshine. Prolonged for most. Some stubborn to clear cloud. Winds of 5 to 10 mph gusting 25 to 25 mph across the Uists and Barra.

Winds will be South Easterly direction shifting a little in the evening to come North Easterly direction and temps will range from 8C to 15C the higher end temperatures will be over Lewis and Harris. The cloud over the Uists and Barra will keep it a little cooler here.

Good afternoon Western isles we have seen plenty of blue skies and sunshine across the Western isles today. However cloud is increasing and we are seeing a few light showers feeding in.

Today’s view from space highlights the blue skies and sunshine and indicates the arrival of the cloud.

Monday we are forecast to see another fine and dry day. Plenty of blue skies and sunshine. Some stubborn cloud. It will be breezy especially across the Uists and Barra.

Weather front draped across Ireland and west coast of Scotland. High pressure dominates across the UK.

Tuesday will see another settled day. Light winds across Lewis and Harris but gusting 40 mph for the Uists and Barra. Quite a bit of cloud with a few showers.

Low pressure sits out to our west with a cold front extending across Ireland. High pressure dominates most of the UK weather.

Wednesday will see a fine dry but breezy day. A mixture of sunshine and cloud.

Storm Hannah has been bringing strong winds to Ireland, Wales and England today with winds gusting in excess of 80mph.

Sunday is going to see a mostly settled day. A mixture of sunshine and cloud. It will be breezy.

Low pressure sits out to west of the UK 985 mb. Weather fronts sit across the UK.

Monday we are forecast to see a fine and dry day. P,empty of sunshine and variable amounts of cloud.

High pressure sits across the UK. Weak weather front sits across Ireland.

Tuesday will see plenty of sunshine with variable amounts of cloud. A couple of light showers. Winds will be light.

Friday 26th April Weather Watch

Good evening Western isles we are seeing showers moving across the Western isles. Some of these are heavy. There is still a low risk that some these could be thundery. Plenty of cloud around but it is broken with some clear spells. It’s feeling much cooler then off late.

This is a recent radar that is highlighting the heavy showers.

Today’s view from space shows the overcast conditions

Friday night storm Hannah is going to move across Ireland into wales and England brining gales gusting 90 mph.

You can see the low pressure on this chart 989 mb. For us in the Western isles we will see light winds and a few showers.

Saturday we are going to see the cloud dominating with some sunny spells and light rain and drizzle.

Across the UK high pressure builds in as storm Hannah weakens and moves into the North Sea.

Sunday we will see another cloud dominating day wi5h some sunny spells, light rain and drizzle. Light winds.

Across the UK high pressure is being sandwiched between areas of low pressure. A low out in the Atlantic and in the North Sea with trailing weather fronts.

Monday we are going to see a mild day with a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Some light rain rain. It’s expected to be breezy.

Low pressure sits out in the Atlantic and a warm front sits across the UK but conditions are fairly settled.

Into next week things are expected to stay fairly settled with light winds and some wind.

Storm Hannah

Both the UK Met Office and Irish Met Office have issued update warnings for Storm Hannah. Both warnings can be found on the respective websites. No impacts for the Western isles.

The Irish Met Office have issued a status red for parts of Ireland with winds expected to gust to 93 mph.

The UK Met Office have a yellow warning for wind, this has expanded to cover large parts of England.

Thursday 25th April Weather Watch

Good afternoon Western isles on this Thursday afternoon we are seeing plenty of blue skies and sunshine.

However we will see cloud increase as we head towards the evening with a few sharp showers. There is a chance some of these could be thundery in nature. The risk is fairly low but still a small risk.

Wednesday was a beautiful day across the Western isles. We where the sunniest place in the UK.

Friday is going to see a day of sunshine and showers across the Western isles. Some of these heavy at time. Some decent and prolonged sunshine in breaks in the cloud. It will be breezy.

The low pressure system 986 mb is storm Hannah named by the Irish Met Office and will bring strong winds to Ireland, Wales and England over the weekend. No impacts for the Western isles.

Saturday is going to see a fairly settled day. Some light rain and drizzle. The cloud will dominate. Some morning sunshine. Light winds to start the day becoming breezy as the day goes on.

Storm Hannah sits across England on Saturday. A ridge of high pressure attempts to build in behind.

Sunday will see breezy conditions across the Western isles. Mostly dry with a fairly overcast day.

High pressure sits across the southern half of the UK. Low pressure sits out in the Atlantic 988 mb. But high pressure keeps it at bay.

Long range and things look to become warmer and more settled as we go into next week.
