Tuesdays forecast – sunshine and cloud

Good evening Western Isles on this Monday evening we are seeing rain moving across the Western isles. Heavy and slow moving across the Uist and Barra. Lighter rain and drizzle across Lewis. Drier acoss Harris and North Uist. It is mostly overcast with a few sunny spells.

I wasn’t massively happy with today’s forecast, I was expecting more sunshine and less rain. Picked up on it during the morning brief. so this is why it is important to check out updates during the day. The forecast models also struggled with today till much later into today.

Overnight – We are going to see a cloud dominated night. Some light rain and drizzle. Mist and low cloud especially across Lewis and parts of Harris. Winds will increase. Winds of 20 to 30 mph gusting 40 mph.

Morning – An overcast start to the day. Light rain and drizzle for Lewis and Harris, mist and low cloud. Across the Uists and Barra, Some showers here but mostly dry the cloud dominating with increasing amounts of sunshine. Winds of 20 to 30 mph gusting 35 mph.

Afternoon – We are expecting to see plenty of sunshine. Prolonged at times but variable amounts of cloud. Improving across Lewis and Harris with the light rain and drizzle clearing away.  We should see plenty of sunshine with variable amount of cloud. Winds of 20 to 35 mph.

Evening – A fine and dry end to the day is expected across the Western Isles. Plenty of sunshine with variable amount of cloud. Winds of 15 to 25 mph.

Winds will be from the North East and Temps will range from 9C to 16C
