Good evening Western isles on this Saturday evening we are seeing a dry end to the day. Cloud is increasing and its mild. Winds are mostly light.
Overnight – We are going to see an overcast night with some clear spells. It will be breezy and still feeling mild. Some early morning sunshine for Lewis and Harris. Some light rain is possible but most places will stay dry. Winds of 5 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph across the Uists and Barra.
Morning – Will be largely fine and dry. plenty of cloud with the best of the sunshine for Lewis and Harris. The Uists and Barra will be more overcast and cloud will increase here. Rain will push into the Uists and Barra but some uncertainty as yet as the exact timing of this. The rain when it arrives will be heavy. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.
Afternoon – Heavy rain will move across the Uists and Barra and will be persistent at times. Winds gusting 40 mph here. Across Lewis and Harris the rain is expected to arrive a little later. Plenty of uncertainty on exact timing. Cloud will increase here with light rain and drizzle we will then see heavy rain push in. Winds of 20 to 40 mph.
Evening – Will see further heavy and at times persistent rain for Lewis and Harris but this will slowly clear by late evening to allow dry spells and clear skies for a time. The Uists and Barra will be mostly dry to end the day. Some light rain after the heavy rain has cleared away. Plenty of cloud with the odd sunny spell. Winds of 10 to 30 mph gusting 40 mph at times.
** A lot of people will be heading back to the mainland after the festival etc. Please note the Met office have issued yellow weather warnings for the mainland and Skye with 25 to 50 mm of rainfall widely and up to 100 mm plus over higher ground. No warnings for the Western Isles. But these rainfall amounts could cause some travel disruption. Warnings for Sunday and Monday.
