Wednesday 24th July Weather Watch

Good Evening Western isles on this Wednesday evening we are seeing an overcast evening with light rain and drizzle. Brisk winds and its feeling warm.

The rest of tonight will be mostly overcast with light rain and drizzle. Some sunny spells and brisk winds.

Thursday across the Western isles we are going to see brisk winds gusting 30/40 mph a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Feeling warm. Temps high teens and maybe hitting 20C. Showers which could be thundery.

Across the UK on Thursday and the South East could well see the highest temperature ever recorded in the UK. Thunderstorms developing later.

Friday across the Western isles will see another mild day. Plenty of cloud with some light rain and drizzle. Windy for the Uists and Barra gusting 30/40 mph possibly reaching 45 mph.

Across the UK turning cooler with showers heavy and thundery. Low pressure 997 mb influences our weather.

Saturday across the Western isles will see cooler conditions and lighter winds. A mixture of sunshine and showers. Occasionally heavy and possibly thundery.

Becoming more settled on Saturday for the UK. Cooler with showers for the east. Drier and sunnier for the West.

Long range the rest of the weekend and into next weekend looks more settled with drier conditions.

The Met office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for part of the UK for Thursday into Friday. Full warning and latest updates can be found via the Met Office website or app.

There was a lot of thunderstorms across the UK overnight with 60,000 lightning strikes being recorded in a 24 hour period.
