Sunday 4th of August Weather Watch

Hello and welcome to the latest Weather Watch blog post.

On this Sunday afternoon, we are seeing an overcast afternoon across the Western Isles. Some spells of rain which are heavy in places. Mainly across lewis and harris at the moment. Cloud is dominating with a few sunny spells. Winds are breezy but the midges are bad. Feeling warm.

The rest of the day and we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and cloud. It will be more overcast across Lewis. We are going to see further spells of rain. This will be heavy at times. The heaviest will be across Lewis and Harris. There is a chance that the odd shower could be thundery.

Today’s view from space once again highlights the overcast conditions across the Western isles.

Monday across the Western Isles is going to see a day of sunshine and showers. These will be heavy at times. There is a risk that they could be thundery at times. The sunshine will be prolonged at times especially across the Uists and Barra. It will be breezy and temps will be in the mid to high teens.

Monday across the UK is again going to see a day of sunshine and thundery showers. There will be heavy at times. In between some decent and prolonged sunshine. Feeling warm. Low pressure dominates the weather.

Tuesday across the Western Isles and once again we are going to see a showery day. Some of these showers will merge into some longer spells of rain. Winds will be light again and it will feel mild. In between, we will see some decent and prolonged sunshine.

Across the UK on Tuesday and it’s going to stay unsettled. Further spells of heavy rain as low pressure dominates. Some sunny spells in between.

Wednesday across the Western isles is expected to be a drier day. Winds will increase around 20 to 30 mph. Feeling warm. Plenty of sunshine prolonged sunshine at times, however, there will be plenty of cloud.

Wednesday across the UK again it will be more of the same low pressure sits close by. So further spells of showery rain again the risk of the showers being thundery and feeling mild.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms today for Mainland Scotland including Skye and parts of England. The full warning can be found via the Met Office website or app for the latest updates and information.

With further heavy showers, evacuations are still underway at the Dam in Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire. Below from BBC News.
