Friday’s forecast – Rain and strong winds

Good evening Western Isles on this Thursday evening we are seeing a dry end to the day. Plenty of clear skies and more cloud across Lewis and Harris.

We are going to see strong winds which would not be out of place in the middle of winter but in the summer it’s not massively expected so if you have outdoor plans be aware. No Met Office warning has been issued but worth being weather aware.

Overnight – We are going to see an overcast night. Mostly dry and winds will increase. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Morning – A dry start but Heavy rain will push across the Western Isles which will be persistent at times. Into the Uists and Barra first and then into Lewis and harris as the day goes on. Winds of 20 to 30 mph gusting 40 mph.

Afternoon – Into the afternoon and more rain this again will be heavy and persistent and it will slowly clear from the Uists and Barra leaving showery conditions in its wake. The rain will last for most afternoon across Lewis and Harris. Easing for a brief time. It will stay windy winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 45 possibly 50 mph.

Evening – A dry end to the day with a few showers is expected for the Uists and Barra. Some sunshine here. Further spells of rain for Lewis and Harris which will slowly clear away but again will be heavy at times. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 45 mph again possibly 50 mph.

Winds will be Easterly and North Easterly direction and temps will range from 11C to 17C
