Friday’s forecast – Checks calendar, Checks the weather, Throws calendar away.

Good evening Western Isles, on this Thursday evening we are seeing rain pushing across the Western Isles. This is heavy and persistent in places. It is just pushing into Lewis as I type. Dry for now across northern lewis. Blustery winds are increasing as well.

Overnight – heavy and persistent rain. Some lighter interludes. Cloud dominating. Windy with winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Morning – Further spells of rain which again will be heavy but becoming more patchy as the morning goes on. Cloud dominating. Staying windy. Winds of 20 to 40 mph with some coastal gusts reaching 50 mph.

Afternoon – turning increasingly showery and these will be heavy at times becoming lighter as the afternoon progress. However, the cloud will start to break with increasing sunshine in the breaks in the cloud. A risk some these showers could be thundery.  Winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Evening – The showers becoming more scattered and lighter. Some sunshine and variable amounts of cloud. Winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Winds will be from the South and South West and temps will range from 12C to 17C
