Sunday’s forecast – Wet later and breezy

Good evening Western Isles. Sunday is looking like an unsettled day nothing out of the ordinary even for us in Summer. Forecasts for wind speeds have toned down the expectations for wind speed. The rainfall again unpleasant for July but nothing significant. The challenging aspect of this as ever is precise timings. Anyway on with the forecast.

On this Saturday evening, we are seeing a mainly overcast evening with some light rain. For most its a dry evening and a few sunny spells. Winds are under 20 mph.

Overnight – We are going to see a mainly overcast night with a few clear spells. Some light rain and drizzle. Winds of 10 to 25 mph.

Morning – Mainly cloud dominated with a few sunny spells. Some rain mainly light. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Afternoon – Some sunny spells but it will be mainly overcast. Rain will slowly start to work its way in from the South. Into Barra and South Uist first heavy at times. Some uncertainty as yet on timings. By late afternoon rain is expected to push into all areas and be heavy. Winds will increase 20 to 40 mph.

Evening – Further rain heavy for Lewis and Harris, Some drier interludes. The rain slowly becoming lighter from the South and should be dry for the South Uist and Barra by the end of the evening. Staying mainly overcast. Winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Winds will be from the South West and temps of 9C to 17C
