Wednesday forecast – Overcast with rain

Good evening all it has been a tricky forecast today. Rain across Barra this evening and into South Uist. Elsewhere dry for most with some patchy rain. Cloudy some sunny spells but the cloud in the most part it dominating. 

Overnight – We are going to see heavy and persistent rainfall across the Uists and Barra. This could become persistent at times. It will slowly spread into Harris and parts of Lewis as the night goes on but will be lighter rain. Overcast with the cloud dominating everywhere. Winds of 0 to 20 mph gusting 30 mph for the Uists and Barra. 

Morning – Further rain which again will be heavy at times. Some drier spells with the cloud dominating. Becoming drier for South Uist and Barra by late morning as the rain moves across Harris and more of Lewis it will be lighter than in the early morning. Winds of 0 to 25 mph. 

Afternoon – The mainly light rain continues across Harris and Lewis clipping North Uist. Benbecula southward by this point should be dry apart from some patchy rain with a few sunny spells. Winds of  0 to 20 mph. 

Evening – The patchy rain by this point is mainly confined to Lewis and parts of Harris. Largely overcast with a few sunny spells. Increasing mist and fog patches with low cloud will start forming. Light rain and drizzle towards the end of the evening. Winds of 0 to 15 mph. 

Winds will be from South and South East turning South West later in the day for the Uists and Barra. Temps of 11C to 16C

Thursday – Largely fine and dry with increasing sunshine in the evening light winds.
