Weather Watch 21th July 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Tuesdays Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Tuesday afternoon we are seeing rain moving into South Uist and Barra. Elsewhere mainly dry with a mixture of sunshine and cloud with a few light showers. Winds are under 20 mph and the max temperature of 16C so far today.

We are now going to take a look at the next few days weather. All the images show below come from the Met office and can be found by following this link

Wednesday – across the islands we are going to see a cloud dominated night with further spells of rain which will be heavy at times. The heaviest across the Uists and Barra. Rain into Lewis and Harris for a time. Into Wednesday itself and the cloud will dominate. Further spells of rain and occasional sunny spells. Winds of 10 to 25 mph.

Across the UK low pressure moves across the UK bringing rain and drizzle to Scotland, Northern England and Ireland. For Wales and England a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Drier and warmer. High pressure sits to the South.

Thursday – across the islands and we are going to see a few scattered showers. These will clear away in the morning on Thursday. It should be fine and dry there after with plenty of sunshine and variable amounts of cloud and light winds.

High pressure builds to the North of the UK. Low pressure will bring further cloud and rain to Parts of England, Wales and Scotland.

Friday across the islands should be another fine and dry day. We are going to see a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Some late evening rain cannot be ruled out as we move into Saturday. Winds will be light again.

For the UK as a whole a ridge of high pressure builds in for fine and dry weather. But turning. increasingly unsettled into the weekend with the next frontal system moving across Ireland.

Long range – Another weekend of sunshine and showers is on the card across the island. Mainly light winds.
