Weather Watch 26th July 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Sunday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Sunday afternoon we are seeing rain across Lewis and parts of Harris which is heavy. Elsewhere its overcast with some sunny spells and a few scattered showers. Winds are gusting 44 mph across South Uist. Max temp today 14C

Monday – Across the Western Isles. A mixture of sunshine and showers. These well scattered and at times heavy. Windy to start easing then increasing again as we go into the evening. Some decent spells of sunshine. Winds of 10 to 40 mph. Temps of 10C to 16C

Across the UK and its going to be a wet day with spells of rain which will be heavy at times. Brisk winds. Best of any sunshine will be across the North with scattered showers here.

Tuesday across the islands we are going to see brisk North Westerly winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. Some morning showers but it will become drier in the afternoon and evening. Mainly overcast with some sunny spells.

Across the UK the area of low pressure moves away to the North East. High pressure is building in and will settled the weather down. It will be a day of sunshine and showers across the UK

Wednesday – High pressure totally settles down the weather across the islands. Still going to see brisk winds but will be mainly dry but overcast. Winds under 20 mph.

Across the UK high pressure in control 1024 mb. Light winds and mainly dry and warm. A few patchy showers. An area of low pressure sits out in. the Atlantic 987mb.

In UK weather news multiple reports of a tornado in Northamptonshire on Saturday evening.

Into the tropics and tropical Gonzalo dissipated after I posted yesterdays update.

In the Central Pacific hurricane Douglas is bringing strong winds and rain to the Hawaiian islands.

In the Atlantic hurricane Hanna is bring strong winds and rain to Texas after making landfall on Saturday. This is accompanied by life threatening flooding.
