Weather Watch 30th August 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Sundays Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Sunday afternoon we are seeing fine dry conditions. A mixture of sunshine and cloud. Todays highest temp so far of 15.2C. Winds under 10 mph.

Western Isles  forecast – (UK outlook follows below)

Monday – Across the Western Isles we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Winds will increase as the day goes on. Some rain possible as the day goes on. Winds gusting 20 to 30 mph. It will feel milder with temps reaching 16C

Tuesday – A day of sunshine and showers. These will be heavy at times. Winds will be brisk gusting 20 to 30 mph. Feeling mild again. The best of any drier weather will be into the evening.

Wednesday – Quite a bit of uncertainty as yet. Looking at the chart below and other data we have this looks like some fairly strong winds on Wednesday. Nothing to unusual for Autumn. We could see winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Possibly a chance of 60 mph in some spots. This will be accompanied by heavy and persistent rain. Before becoming drier later but staying windy. Still on the mild side with temps in the mid to high teens.

UK forecast –

Mainly fine and dry with plenty of sunshine and feeling warmer. A few scattered showers. Rain will approach from the West Monday evening and winds will also increase. Tuesday most of the UK fine and dry with plenty of sunshine. However blustery showers for the West Coast of Scotland, Skye and the Outer Hebrides. Strong winds and heavy rain for all on Wednesday. The strongest of the winds being for the West.
