Weather Watch 9th September 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Wednesdays Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Wednesday afternoon we are seeing some showers and some of these are heavy in places. We are seeing some decent and prolonged spells of sunshine. Winds gusting 40 mph. Todays max temp of 15.5C so far today.

Western Isles forecast – (UK outlook follows below)

Thursday – A chilly night into Thursday but low pressure will bring further spells of rain after a fairly dry overcast start winds will increase gusting 30 to 40 mph. Showery rain will merge into longer spells of rain which will be heavy at times. Winds will be from the South West and temps of 8C to 14C

Friday – A windy day throughout as you can see from the image below. Winds gusting 30 to 45 mph and in the early hours reaching 50 mph at times. Heavy and persistent rain during the early hours becoming showery for the rest of the day. Some sunshine at times.

Saturday – Another windy day. Winds gusting 30 to 45 mph again. Sunshine and showers. Further spells of rain. This becoming heavy and persistent as we go overnight into Sunday. Some sunny spells in between.

Staying much the same for Sunday with fuerther spells of heavy rain.

UK Forecast –

Thursday wet and windy for the North West of Scotland. Fine and dry elsewhere with plenty of sunshine feeling warm with a cold start. Friday wet and windy for Scotland and North West Scotland. A band of rain will move South East but will fade as it pushes further South. Saturday. fine and dry sunny and warm for England and Wales. But very heavy and persistent rain for Scotland and the West Coast with strong winds.

An interesting tweet from the Met Office highlight the Jet stream bringing strong winds and rain to us in the North West and hotter conditions up to 28C in the South West.
