Weather Watch 12th September 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Saturday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Saturday afternoon we are seeing heavy rain sweeping across the Western Isles. This becoming heavy and persistent. Overcast with winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. Some gusts reaching 50 mph in places.

A reminder we are under a Met Office yellow weather warning from 1800 this evening until 23:59 Sunday evening.

Western Isles forecast (UK to follow)

Sunday – We are going to see another very wet day with further heavy and persistent rain moving across the islands. Winds gusting 30 to 40 mph strongest for the Uists and Barra. Some drier and brighter weather for the morning before heavy rain reaches all parts again as we go into the afternoon. Some localised flooding possible. Winds will be variable and temps of 8C to 15C

Monday – another wet day as further weather fronts move across the islands. The rain heavy at times. Winds will be lighter. It will feel warmer so yay warmer rain. The cloud will dominate. Winds of 0 to 25 mph. Temps of 9C to 16C

Tuesday – A day of sunshine and showers. Some of these showers will be heavy at times. Winds will be from the North and North West. It is expected to become drier by the end of the day. Winds under 20 mph. Temps of 10C to 19C

UK forecast

Sunday fine and dry for most of the UK warm and sunny. Rain for North West Scotland, Outer Hebrides and Shetland. Windy here also.

Global Weather News

All eyes on the tropics. With two tropical Storms Rene and Paulette. We have soon to be tropical storm Sally heading towards the Gulf plus another couple of areas to watch – Please refer to the National Hurricane Centre Website for the latest. Monday and Tuesday further rain for large parts of Scotland and drier in the East. rain for Northern Ireland but fine dry and sunny for England and Wales. Warm becoming hot in the South East could see 30C

Paulette is heading toward Bermuda and could hit Bermuda as hurricane.
