Western Isles rainfall afternoon update 13th September 2020

Just a quick update on the wet conditions across the Western Isles. Ive not seen any real impacts yet. But if you have any photos, videos or reports please do share them with us. Ironically some sites got more rainfall on Friday out with the warning then in the time since the warning was issued.

A reminder we remain under a Met Office yellow warning for rainfall till 23:59 this evening and this was not updated this morning. The full warning and latest updates can be found via the Met Office website of app. We also remain under a SEPA flood alert again full details can be found via the SEPA website.

Latest rainfall radar

Rainfall totals so far for Met Office sites.

Stornoway from 1800 yesterday evening till 0600 this morning – 0.6 mm ( that has gone higher since)

South Uist from 1800 yesterday evening till 0600 this morning – 8.8 mm

SEPA Rainfall totals

from 1800 yesterday (Saturday) to 1100 today (Sunday)

Creed bridge 3.2mm

Laxdale Harris 7.0mm

Loch Tormsad – 43.6mm* (31 mm fell in one hour so I think there may have been an issue with this site. Based on looking at nearby rainfall totals)

Mill Croft – 15.4 mm

Rainfall totals are on the rise and we still have roughly 12 hours left under the warning but totals are lower than I expected they would be and we where expecting between 25 and 50 mm.

I will do an additional update later tonight.
