Saturday’s forecast – Windy and wet

Good evening Western Isles on this Friday evening we are seeing a mainly fine and dry end to the day. A few scattered showers around with plenty of clear skies. Cloud moving into the Uists and Barra. Winds under 10 mph for much of Lewis and Harris but strong gusting 30 mph for the Uists and Barra. Today’s high of 11.2C but under clearing skies over Lewis and Harris temps have dropped below 5C

Overnight – We are going to see some heavy rain sweep across the Western Isles. It will be persistent at times. Some hail and the odd rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out. Winds will ramp up. Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Winds gusting 60 to 65 mph during the middle of the morning.

Morning and afternoon – We are going to see a mixture of sunshine and squally showers. These heavy at times. Some decent and prolonged sunshine in between. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph in some more exposed locations.

Evening – Further spells of rain. Heavy at times. Some squally showers. Some clear spells in between the showers. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph.

Winds will be from the West and South West. Temps of 5C to 11C but feeling colder in the wind chill.
