Weather Watch 29th October 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Thursday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Thursday afternoon we are seeing heavy rain sweep across the Western Isles. The heaviest of the rain has now cleared from South Uist and Barra. Todays high so far of 11.4C. Winds have been gusting 20 to 40 mph strongest for the Uists and Barra.

Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)

Friday – We are going to see a day of sunshine and showers with brisk winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. These showers will be heavy at times. Some decent spells of sunshine in between. Winds will be from the South West and temps of 7C to 12C. Low pressure sits well to our North West and we are stuck in a brisk airflow.

Saturday – We are going to see an area of low pressure moving across the Western Isles. We are going to see some heavy and persistent rainfall at times. Winds are going to gust 30 to 40 mph at times reaching 50 mph. Mainly overcast with some sunny spells. High pressure attempts build in for a time. Winds will be variable and temps of 5C to 12C

Sunday – Another windy day. As low pressure dominates once again. We are going to see winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Low pressure 950 mb sits out to the West. Further spells of heavy rain once again. Winds will be from the South West and temps of 6C to 7C

Weather warnings for rain have been issued by the Met Office more on this below. Mostly fine and dry in the East of England. Rain for Wales and North West England with scattered showers elsewhere. Saturday heavy rain and strong winds for most of the UK strongest in the North West of Scotland. Sunday mainly fine in the East. Strong winds and heavy rain for the West and North West of Scotland.
