Storm Aiden – 30th October afternoon update.

Good afternoon all the first named storm of the 2020/21 named storm season has been named storm Aiden. This is a naming partnership between the UK, Dutch and Irish Met Office. Storm Aiden is expected to bring strong winds and rain to the UK and Ireland on Saturday. In the blog post we cover impacts for the UK and Ireland widely along with impacts for us in the Western Isles.

The Met Office have just issued a yellow weather warning for winds for the Western Isles for Saturday from 0600 until 2100 the full warning and latest updates can be found via the Met Office website or app.

Western Isles

So as mentioned above a weather warning has been issued for Saturday for the Western Isles. I expect we will see winds gusting 50 to 60 mph and later in the day gusting 70 mph. The Met Office is suggesting we could see winds gusting 75 mph. This will also be accompanied by heavy rain which will be an additional hazard.
