Week ahead forecast – Rain and strong winds colder later.

Welcome to the week ahead forecast. The full in depth forecast for Monday can be found in the update below this one. The weekend has been fairly settled with rain at times. Another unsettled week on the cards.

Tuesday – We are going to see a rain sandwich. Heavy rain during the early hours of the day. With further heavy rain into the evening. Overcast with showers in between. Some sunny spells. Winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. During the early hours gusting 50 to 55 mph strongest over the Uists and Barra. Winds will be from the South West and temps of 8C to 13C

Wednesday – We are going to see further spells of heavy and persistent rain. Becoming drier and brighter with sunshine and cloud later. Winds gusting 20 to 30 mph. Winds will be from the West and South West. Temps of 5C to 11C

Thursday – A much colder day as a Northerly airflow sets up. We are going to see rain and showers. Some wintry showers are possible. Drier later with plenty of cloud. Temps drop into the evening with a risk of frost and ice. Winds gusting 40 mph to start the day under 10 mph to end the day. Temps of 0 to 7C

Friday – After a cold start, we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and showers before heavy rain and gales later in the day. Wind gusting 40 to 50 mph. a long way off as yet so things can change. Winds will be from the Southwest and temps of 4C to 11C

Next weekend – Next weekend looks showery with brisk winds.
