Good afternoon and welcome to Saturday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.
On this Saturday afternoon we are seeing a mixture of sunshine and showers. These heavy and squally at times with some rain, hail and sleet mixed in. Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Todays high so far of 10.5C

Overnight we had some thundery showers for Ness on the Isle of Lewis this morning with some lightning strikes.

Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)
Sunday – We are going to see the brisk airflow continuing across the Western Isles. Rain and showers will sweep across the Western Isles. These will be heavy at times and possibly thundery. It will stay windy but not as windy as we have seen recently. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 5C to 10C. The next area of low pressure builds in the Atlantic.
Monday – Another area of low pressure comes thundering in off the Atlantic. The low pressure at midday Monday is expected to be 981 mb. It will bring strong winds and heavy rain to the Western Isles. Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Heavy rain will move in during the afternoon and evening. We will see a mainly dry but cold start. Plenty of cloud. The heavy rain clearing as we go overnight into Tuesday. Winds will be from the South and South West and temps of 4C to 11C
Tuesday – We are going to see a breezy day on Tuesday. Some broad areas of low pressure to our North and high pressure building in over the Atlantic. We are going to see a mainly dry day. We are going to see a few scattered showers but most places should stay dry. We will see plenty of cloud with some sunny spells. Winds of 10 to 30 mph so more of a breezy day. Winds will be from the South West and temps of 4C to 11C
UK forecast
Sunday for most it will be a fine and dry day. However some showers for Scotland with blustery winds. Some snow over higher ground. Monday will see mainly fine and dry conditions across most of England and Wales. Heavy rain for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Heavy rain on Tuesday slowly sinks South East across the UK and slowly clears away. Staying showery for much of Scotland with brisk winds.
