Good afternoon and welcome to Thursday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.
On this Thursday afternoon we are seeing wintry showers around. Heavy in places. It is cold across the Western Isles with widespread frost and ice. Winds are light. Temps at Stornoway Airport down to -0.5C and todays high of 4.6C

Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)
Friday – Low pressure dominates the weather across the UK. Bringing rain and snow to many parts ( more on this blow). Across the Western Isles we are going to see a cold icy start. Winds will be light to start the morning. We are going to see spells of rain which will be heavy at times. The cloud dominating with some sunny spells. Winds are going to gust 30 to 40 mph and at times reaching 50 mph for a time for the Uists and Barra. Winds will be from the North East and temps of -2C to 6C
Saturday – Low pressure still dominates across the UK. We are going to see sunshine and showers. These heavy at times but becoming drier as we head towards the end of the day. It will be a milder day. Winds will be from the North East and temps of 3C to 9C
Sunday – a slack airflow across the UK as the low pressure clears away. A lingering front sits to the West of the Western Isles. We are going to see a spell of sunshine and showers. The showers will be fairly well scattered. Some decent spells of sunshine. Winds will be from the North East around 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 2C to 8C
UK forecast
Friday across the UK low pressure in charge with rain snow showers and brisk winds. Saturday low pressure slowly declines away after a wet start becoming drier and brighter with increasing amounts of sunshine. Sunday mainly fine and dry day with a few scattered showers. Winds becoming lighter with sunshine.
