Weather Watch 4th December

Good afternoon and welcome to Friday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Friday afternoon, we are seeing rain for large parts of the Western Isles. This has some sleet mixed in as well some parts of the islands are drier for the Uists and Barra. Todays high of 7.1C and winds gusting 40 to 50 mph.

Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)

Saturday – We are going see overnight spells of rain. Heavy at times. Into Saturday day time we are going to see a day of sunshine and showers. These heavy at times. Winds gusting 20 to 40 mph. Easing as the day goes on. Winds will be from the North East and temps of 3C to 9C. Low pressure dominates the UK with a weather front draped across Ireland and Scotland.

Sunday – Things settled down across the UK. Conditions will be mostly settled in the Western Isles. A chilly start to the day with a risk of some early morning frost and ice in places. We are going to see sunshine and cloud. Winds under 20 mph. Some light rain but most places are expected to be dry. Winds will be from the North East and temps of 1C to 9C

Monday – High pressure dominates the weather across the UK. Staying chill and settled in the Western Isles with mainly light winds. We are going to see sunshine and variable amounts of cloud. It should be dry but the odd shower cannot be ruled out. Winds under 20 mph from variable directions. Risk of frost and ice in the morning. Temps of 1C to 8C

UK forecast

Saturday become fine and dry with low pressure moving southwards away from the UK but rain arriving in the North East of England later. Sunday a few scattered showers but mainly fine and dry with sunshine and light winds. Monday mostly fine dry and settled but rain moving into the East later.

A Met Office yellow weather warning for snow across parts of England this evening

A yellow weather warning for ice for South East England until 1000 Saturday morning.

Also a yellow weather warning for rain for parts of Scotland

It was the coldest night of the Autumn / Winter so far down -9.6C at Altnaharra

and thundersnow in Edindburgh
