Weather Watch 5th December 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Saturday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Saturday afternoon, we are seeing a mixture of clear skies and showers. These most frequent across Lewis and harris. Winds under 20 mph and todays high of 7.8C

Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)

Sunday – a mostly fine and dry day. Plenty of sunshine and variable amounts of cloud as high pressure sits in charge of the weather across the UK. Winds will be under 20 mph. The odd isolated shower cannot be ruled out. Some frost and ice is possible during the morning and evening. Temps of 0C to 7C and winds will be from the North East.

Monday – A mainly fine and dry day once again. We are going to see a mixture of sunshine and cloud. A few scattered showers. Some decent prolonged spells of sunshine. Winds light to start the day but gusting to 30 mph by the end of the day. A risk of frost and ice in places again. Winds will be from the North East. Temps of 2C to 7C

Tuesday – A fairly weak area of low pressure takes control of our weather on Tuesday. The low 994 mb will bring winds gusting 30 to 40 mph across the Western Isles. Possibly gusting 50 mph for a time for the Uists and Barra. We are going to see showery rain. This rain could become heavy for a time during the morning. Winds will be from the North and North East. Temps of 3C to 9C

UK forecast

Sunday a few coastal showers but mainly fine and dry with plenty of sunshine. Monday low pressure moves in from the East bringing wind and rain to the East coast of the UK with snow over higher ground. Tuesday rain and blustery winds as the area of low pressure dies out.
