Good afternoon and welcome to Saturday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.
On this Saturday afternoon we are seeing a mixture of sunshine and cloud. A few scattered showers. Winds under 20 mph. Today’s high of 8.4C

We are now going to take a look at the next few days weather. All the images shown below come from the Met office and can be found by following this link https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-and-charts/surface-pressure
Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)
Sunday – Low pressure dominates across the UK 965 mb. It will bring fairly strong winds and rain for the Western Isles. Winds widely will gust 30 to 40 mph and some gusts reaching 50 mph for the Uists and Barra. The rain will be heavy and persistent at times. Winds will be from the South East and temps of 6C to 10C but feeling much colder in the wind chill.
Monday – The rather broad area of low pressure on this chart 968 mb sits across the Northern Atlantic. As the isobars become less tight across the Western Isles we are going to see winds of 30 to 40 mph. A day of sunshine and showers some of these heavy and times and possibly merging into some longer spells of rain. Winds will be from the South and South East. Temps of 7C to 11C but again feeling colder in the wind chill.
Tuesday – low pressure still sits out in the Atlantic but it is slowly declining away. Winds will ease gusting 30 mph to start the day but under 20 mph to end the day. We are going to see a day of sunshine and scattered showers. These occasionally heavy at times but for most it will be fine and dry. Winds will be from the South and South East. Temps of 5C to 9C
Worth keeping an eye on the area of low pressure 987 mb to the West of Spain. Some good computer model consistency that this will move towards Ireland and the UK as a powerful area of low pressure. A long way off as yet but worth keeping an eye on. Far too early to talk about any impacts for us in the Western isles or the UK as a whole.
UK forecast
Sunday rain and showers for most heavy at times with snow over the higher ground of Scotland. Windy for most. Monday rain and showers heavy in places but becoming drier later with winds easing. Tuesday dry and sunny for most but wind and rain arriving in the South West later.
