Weather Watch 14th December 2020

Good afternoon and welcome to Monday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Monday afternoon we are seeing rain and showers moving across the Western Isles. This is heavy in places. Winds gusting 20 to 30 mph. Today’s high so far of 10C

We are under a Scottish Environment Protection Agency flood alert for the Western Isles and 3 flood warnings.

Western Isles forecast – (UK forecast to follow)

Tuesday – Low pressure slowly moves away from the Western Isles 974 mb. As this moves away winds will ease. we are going to see a day of sunshine and showers. These will be heavy at times with some occasional longer spells of rain at times. Winds of 20 to 40 mph but easing to under 20 mph to end the day. Winds will be from the South and South West. Temps of 5C to 10C but feeling colder in the wind chill.

Wednesday – Low pressure moves across Ireland on Wednesday it will bring strong winds here. For us in the Western Isles by the time it reaches it us it will start to fill so lighter winds. But we are still going to see winds gusting 30 to 40 mph after a cold dry start. Heavy rain and possibly persistent rain will move in later in the day. Winds will be from the East and South East. Temps of 5C to 11C

Thursday – The low pressure system clears away from the Western Isles with the next low pressure system building in the Atlantic. A few scattered showers on Thursday with plenty of sunshine. Winds dropping under 20 mph but increasing to 30 mph again later in the day. Winds will be from the South West. Temps of 5C to 10C

Tuesday showery in the West becoming drier and brighter with sunshine for most. Wednesday rain and gales for the West with strong winds in places. Heavy rain moving across the UK. Thursday rain and showers to start becoming drier for a time before heavy rain sweeps in again from the West.
