Weather Watch 19th January 2021

Good afternoon and welcome to Tuesday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Tuesday afternoon we are seeing rain and showers moving across the islands. Some decent spells of sunshine today with variable amounts of cloud. Winds under 10 mph. Today’s high of 5.9c so far.

Western Isles 3 day weather forecast

Wednesday – Storm Christoph will bring further rain across the UK on Wednesday with some snow and blustery winds. In the Western Isles we are going to see fine and dry conditions for most with a cold icy start. A few scattered showers. However stronger winds will move in during the evening. Winds under 20 mph but gusting 40 mph by the late evening. Spells of heavy rain will push in. Winds will be from the North and North East. Temps of -1C to 5C

Thursday – Storm Christoph move into the North sea and rapidly deepens 953 mb. Strong winds across parts of the UK. Winds will move down from the North and North East in the Western Isles. Gusting 20 to 40 mph and at times reaching 50 mph. Spells of rain heavy at times. Some sunny spells and a few of the showers will be wintry at times. Temps of 2C to 5c but feeling colder in the wind chill.

Friday – The low pressure system moves over Norway. A cold airflow will move across the Western Isles. Winds of 20 to 40 mph coming down from the North. Feeling cold with sleet and snow showers but mostly falling as rain. Temps of -1C to 4C

UK Weather News

A Met Office yellow weather warning for Ice has been issued for Orkney and Shetland the warning comes into force at 18:00 Tuesday evening and expires at 10:00 Wednesday morning.
