Weather Watch 21st January 2021

Good afternoon and welcome to Thursday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Thursday evening  we are seeing seeing wintry sleet and snow showers. Rain and blustery winds with ice patches in places. A mixture of clear skies and cloud. Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph and today’s high so far of 4.8C

Western Isles 3 day weather forecast

Friday – Low pressure sits close to Norway and we are going to see brisk winds across the Western Isles. Winds will be coming from the North and North West. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. A day of sunshine and wintry showers. These falling as snow at times. We could see dusting in places. Some mist and low cloud for the evening. Frost and ice likely in the morning and then once again a hard frost into the evening. Temps of -1C to 5C but feeling colder in the wind chill.

Saturday – We continue to see the cold airflow across the Western Isles with low pressure close to Norway. We are going to see sleet and snow showers moving across the island. At times some of these falling as rain. Winds gusting 20 to 30 mph but the winds will ease as the day goes on. Another cold and icy day. Winds will be from the North and North West. Temps of -1C to 5C

Sunday – a new area of low pressure between Scotland and Norway. Once again a brisk North Westerly airflow with some wintry showers. Once again a hard frost again with temps struggling to get much above freezing. Some sunny spells. Winds will be from the West and North West. Temps of -2C to 5C
