Good afternoon and welcome to Monday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.
On this Monday afternoon we are seeing some rain and showers. These are heavy in places with some of these are wintry. In between some decent and prolonged spells of sunshine. Winds under 20 mph. Today’s high so far of 5.1C
We are now going to take a look at the next few days weather. All the images shown below come from the Met office and can be found by following this link https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-and-charts/surface-pressure
Tuesday – Weather fronts will move across the UK on Tuesday with snow and rain moving in. Warnings issued more below. For the Western Isles we are going to see a North and South split. A cold icy start for Lewis and Harris. A few scattered showers. Overcast but mainly dry here with winds under 20 mph. For Uist and Barra we are going to see some rain and showers. These will be heavy at times with the cloud dominating and winds gusting to 30 mph. Winds will be from the East and South East. Temps of -1C to 5C
Wednesday – Weather fronts will sit across the UK on Wednesday. For us in the Western Isles. a cloud dominated day once more with some sunny spells. A few rain and showers and some heavier rain will move in form the South later in the day. Still feeling cold and winds will be from the East and South East. Temps of 1C to 5C
Thursday – Some uncertainty as yet. Some of the computer models bring low pressure over the middle of the UK which means the Western Isles would stay mainly fine and dry with a few scattered showers and the cloud dominating with brisk winds. However one of the computer models brings a low pressure system close to us and would bring winds gusting 20 to 40 mph. Heavy rain and risk of snow. Not a clear picture as yet but something I will be keeping an eye on.
