Monday’s forecast – Wintry start but improving later.

Good evening Western Isles on this Sunday evening we are seeing a mixture of clear skies and cloud. Some scattered showers. Widespread frost and ice. Winds under 20 mph.

A reminder Lewis and Harris will be under a Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice from midnight Monday until 12:00 afternoon.

Overnight – We are going to see a cold night with frost and ice. We are going to see some showers moving across the islands. Falling as sleet and snow across Lewis and Harris. Snow likely over higher ground. We could see a dusting to snow to lower levels. A covering in places cannot be ruled out. Overnight low of -1C. Winds under 20 mph.

Morning and afternoon – Some decent and prolonged spells of sunshine. Variable amounts of cloud. A few lingering winter showers for Lewis and Harris. Winds under 20 mph.

Evening – For most of the Western Isles it will be fine and dry. A mixture of clear skies and cloud with some frost and ice. Winds increasing for Uist and Barra. Rain moving into Barra and South Uist later. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Winds will be from the East and North East. Temps of -1C to 5C
