Good afternoon and welcome to Friday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.
On this Friday afternoon we are seeing a few scattered wintry showers but most places are dry with overcast conditions and some clear skies. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting. 50 mph at times. Today’s high of 4.0C

It has been consistently windy here for four days now with the mean wind speed of 29 mph. Granted the top gust of 51 mph isn’t that strong but shows how unrelenting it has been from the same direction. Saturday – A brisk easterly airflow persists across the UK with snow for large parts of eastern half of the UK. Here in the Western Isles we are going to see an overcast day with a few scattered wintry showers. Winds od 10 to 30 mph. Temps of -1C to 5C but feeling colder in the wind chill.
Sunday – Little change with strong Easterly winds feeding snow showers across the UK. In the Western Isles mainly fine and dry. A few scattered wintry showers. Overcast with sunshine at times. Risk of frost and ice. Winds of 10 to 30 mph feeling cold in the wind chill. Temps of -1C to 5C
Monday – Mainly fine and dry with sunshine and cloud. Widespread frost and ice. Some decent and prolonged sunshine. Winds will still feel cold air across the UK with more snow for Eastern half of the UK. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. Its going to feel very cold in the winds. Temps of -2C to 3C but feeling more like -6/-7C in the Easterly winds.
