Met Office yellow weather warning of wind for the Western Isles 9th March 2021

Good morning all. Earlier today the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for winds for the Western Isles from 17:00 Tuesday until 23:00 Tuesday evening.

Impacts for the Western Isles.

Once again we are going to see another period of strong winds from a low pressure system. The strongest winds will be in the afternoon and evening as per the warning. Winds of 50 to 60 mph widely with some gusts reaching 65 to possibly 70 mph. With some gusts for Uist and Barra could reach 75 mph. This will be accompanied by heavy and persistent rain. This rain will be slow moving. So could result in some difficult conditions for a time. We are likely going to see some disruption to ferries.
