Tuesdays forecast – heavy rain and gales


Good evening Western isles. On the Monday evening we are seeing some rain and drizzle. Mist and fog patches in places. Clear skies and cloud. Winds under 20 mp. Today’s high of 9.9C

A reminder a Met office yellow weather warning for winds comes into force at 17:00 Tuesday afternoon and expires at 23:00 Tuesday evening. The full warning and latest updates can be found via the Met office website or app.

Overnight – We are going to see some clear skies and a few scattered showers. Some of these heavy at times winds of 10/30 mph.

Morning – mainly overcast with a few sunny spells. A few showers but largely dry. Winds of 10 to 20 mph gusting 30/40 mph.

Afternoon and evening – Winds will increase across the islands with a peak being in the evening. Winds of 20/40 mph gusting 50/60 mp widely. For a time gusting 60/70 mph possibly reaching 70 mph for Uist and Barra. A band of heavy and slow moving rain will push across the islands during the late afternoon into the evening. Either side clear skies with showers.

Winds will be from the South and South West. Temps of 6/9C

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – sunshine and showers with blustery winds. Gusting 30/50 mph. Heavy squally showers at times.
