Weather Watch 9th March 2021

Good afternoon and welcome to Tuesday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Tuesday afternoon we are seeing rain moving into the Western Isles. This rain is becoming heavy. Drier for parts of Lewis and Harris. Today’s high so far of 8.3C and winds gusting to 40 mph.

Wednesday – The low pressure that brought us strong winds across the Western Isles on Tuesday moves away towards Iceland. The next area of low pressure system moves in 965 mb. This will bring strong winds to much of the UK. In the Western Isles we are going to see rain and showers. Heavy at times. We are going to see some heavy rain during the afternoon and evening with some sunny spells. Winds will be from the South and South West. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph strongest for Uist and Barra. Temps of 3C to 9C

Thursday – Low pressure sits to the North and we are going to see a strong airflow across the UK and across the Western Isles. We are going to see a day of sunshine and squally showers. These will be heavy at times. Some decent spells of sunshine. It will stay windy. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph. Winds will be from the West and North West. Temps of 3C to 7C but feeling colder in the wind chill.

Friday – Little change with the low pressure North of Scotland near Iceland and we are once again going to see a brisk airflow. Winds will eventually ease as the day goes on for us in the Western Isles. It will be a day of sunshine and showers. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Easing into the evening. Temps of 3C to 7C again feeling cold in the wind chill.
