Today – Rain and drizzle this morning for Lewis and Harris. A band of rain will move across the islands during the early afternoon. Behind it, very cold air will move across the islands. With sleet and snow showers. These will be squally at times possibly thundery with hail mixed in. Temps will drop below freezing later this evening. The wind chill will drop down to -10C. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to possibly 60 mph for Uist and Barra. We could see some accumulations of snow for a time. Winds will be from the West and North West. Temps of -2C to 10C temps will plummet into the evening.
Monday – Overnight a hard frost and snow showers which will be heavy at times which could result in a covering of snow for a time. Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph will make it feel bitterly cold. Into Monday itself a day of sunshine and wintry showers which will be heavy and squally. Some sleet showers at times.
Tuesday – Sunshine and wintry showers with brisk winds.
Wednesday – Cold start with spells of heavy rain moving in later as it becomes milder.
