Weather Watch 5th April 2021

Good afternoon and welcome to Monday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Monday afternoon we are seeing sleet and snow showers moving across the Western Isles these are heavy in places. Some sunny spells in between. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Today’s high of 4.4C

Tuesday

Rinse and repeat cold air streams across the UK from the North. High pressure builds to the west. We are going to see a day of squally wintry showers. Frost and ice again. Risk of seeing some accumulations of snow in places. In between some decent spells of sunshine. Winds of 20 to 40 mph from the North West and temps of -2C to 5C. Getting down to -6C/-7C in the wind chill.

Wednesday – High pressure over the Southern half of the UK and a warm front moves over Scotland. For us in the Western Isles we are going to see a cold start to the day with further snow showers. it will become milder as the day goes on. Spells of rain will move across the islands. The cloud will dominate with some sunny spells. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. Winds will be from the North West. Shifting to come from the South West later. Temps of 0C to 8C

Thursday – low pressure sits across the North of Scotland. We are going to see a day of sunshine and showers across the Western Isles. These will be heavy at times and possibly wintry. It will be a windy day with winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Winds will be from the West and North West. Temps of 1C to 9C

A Met Office yellow weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland and Wales. The warning comes into force at 22:00 this evening expires at 10:00 Tuesday morning.
