Weather Watch 6th April 2021

Good afternoon and welcome to Tuesday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Tuesday afternoon we are seeing sleet and snow showers moving across the Western isles. Drier for Uist and Barra. Some decent spells of sunshine. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. Today’s high of 4.6C

Wednesday – High pressure across the South West of the UK and a warm front moves in Scotland. Across the Western isles we are going to see another cold night. With further sleet and snow showers. The cloud dominating across the islands. During the day on Wednesday things will become milder before turning colder again into the evening but we are not expecting see any further snow showers. Some light rain moving in during the late evening. Winds of 10 to 30 mph from the North West and shifting South West. Temps of -1C to 8C

Thursday – low pressure moves to the North of the Western Isles brining winds and rain. We are going to see spells of rain which will be heavy at times. The cloud will dominate. Milder. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Into the late evening turning colder with a risk of some wintry showers again. Winds will be from the South West but shifting North West later. Temps of 2C to 10C

Friday High pressure far out in the Atlantic and low pressure over Scandinavia so once again we are going to see a cold airflow moving across the UK. A day of sunshine and showers and these will be wintry and squally at times. Winds will be from the North West around 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 1C to 8C

The Shetland Islands are currently under a yellow weather warning for wind until 1700 this evening

A Met Office yellow weather warning for snow for Northern Scotland and the Northern Isles from 1900 Tuesday until 1000 Wednesday morning.
