Good afternoon and welcome to Wednesday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.
On this Wednesday afternoon we are seeing a few wintry showers across the Western isles but these have eased. A mixture of sunshine and cloud. Winds under 10 mph and today’s high of 4.7C

Thursday – Across the UK on Thursday we are going to see an area of low pressure move across the north of the UK bringing spells of rain and strong winds. We are going to see overnight rain which will become heavy across the Western Isles. Then for the afternoon and evening, we are going to see a mixture of sunshine and showers. Some decent spells of sunshine. Some of these showers will be heavy at times. Some wintry showers will move in during the very late evening as conditions turning colder again. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Winds will be from the West and South West shifting to come from the North West later. Temps of 1C to 10C
Friday – A cold front races across the UK on Friday with a North Westerly airflow setting up across the UK. We are going to see a day of wintry showers with sleet and snow pushing across the islands. Some decent spells of sunshine in between. We are not expecting quite as potent cold snap as we have seen in recent days. Winds of 10 to 30 mph from the North West. Temps of 1C to 5C
Saturday – As high pressure builds back across the UK things will become more settled. We are going to still see some wintry showers but these are expected to ease as the day goes on. A mixture of sunshine and cloud. It will be a cold day once again with a risk of frost and ice into the evening. Winds will be from the North around 10 to 25 mph. Temps of -1C to 5C
