Weather Watch 8th April 2021

Good afternoon and welcome to Thursday’s Weather Watch taking a look at the weather for the islands, the UK and around the Globe.

On this Thursday afternoon we are seeing rain sleet and snow showers moving across the Western Isles. Heavy in places. In between some decent spells of sunshine plenty of cloud. Blustery winds. Winds gusting 50 mph and todays high of 8.2C

A reminder a Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Lewis and Harris.

Friday – A cold start to the day with frost and ice. Overnight sleet and snow showers will move across the Western Isles. These will result in some accumulations for a time. Into Friday a day of sunshine and wintry showers with rain sleet and snow mixed in. Some decent spells of sunshine in between. Winds will be from the North and North West 10 to 30 mph. Temps of -3C to 6C

Saturday – High pressure builds across the UK with fine dry and settled conditions. We are going to see another cold night with frost and ice once again. Further sleet and snow showers moving across the Western Isles. Becoming drier and brighter later with some decent spells of sunshine and variable amounts of cloud. Winds will be from the North and North West under 20 mph. Temps of -2C to 5C.

Sunday – High pressure across the UK and a warm front moves in from the West. We are going to see a cold start to the day with a risk of frost and ice once again. Milder as the day goes on. The cloud will dominate with some rain moving in later. Winds will be from the South and South West around 10 to 30 mph. Temps of 3C to 8C
