Week ahead forecast – Changeable

Good afternoon Western isles a slightly earlier look at the week ahead forecast for the Western Isles. On this Sunday afternoon, we are currently seeing a split in the weather. Rain for most of Lewis and Harris. This is heavy in places. Drier with some scattered rain for Uist and Barra. Sunshine and cloud here. Winds gusting 20 to 40 mph and today’s high so far of 12.1C

The rest of Sunday will see further heavy rain but this will slowly clear away to showers. Heavy at times and winds will ease down under 20 mph.

Monday – A day of sunshine and cloud with a scattering of showers which will be heavy at times. For most, it will be a dry day. Some decent and prolonged sunshine. Winds will be under 20 mph from the South West. Temps of 5C to 13C

Tuesday – A fine and dry day with some decent and prolonged sunshine. Feeling cool in the Northerly breeze. Winds of 10 to 30 mph from the North and North East. Temps of 5C to 13C

Wednesday – A dry and sunny start to the day but cloud will build in and heavy rain will sweep across the Western Isles later in the day. The rain becoming heavy at times. Winds under 20 mph but gusting 40 to 50 mph later in the day. Winds will be from the North but shifting South East later. Temps of 5C to 12C

Thursday – Heavy rain and cloud dominating rain becoming lighter later. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph. Winds will be from the South and South West. Temps of 5C to 13C

Friday – A cloud dominating day with further spells of rain heavy at times. Occasional sunny spells. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 11C to 15C

Next weekend – High pressure looks set to dominate so mainly fine and dry.
