Week ahead forecast – The last week of 2021

Good afternoon Western Isles on this Sunday afternoon we are seeing a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Some light rain. Winds gusting 40 mph and today’s high of 6.2C

Rest of today – Staying mostly overcast with some sunny spells. Rain and showers move in later. Some clear spells after sunset. Winds of 10 to 30 mph gusting 40 mph.

Overnight – Rain and showers. These heavy across the Uist and Barra. Some clear spells but plenty of cloud. Winds of 20 to 40 mph easing as the night goes on.

Morning – Sunshine and showers. These heavy at times. Showers becoming scattered. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Afternoon and evening – Sunshine and cloud. Clear skies after sunset. Becoming drier to end the day. A few isolated lingering showers. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Winds will be from the South East to the South West. Temps of 3C to 9C

Tuesday – Mostly fine and dry day with sunshine and cloud. Light winds under 20 mph. Winds will be from variable directions. Temps of 2C to 8C

Wednesday – A cloud dominating day across the islands. A dry start to the day but rain will move in during the afternoon and evening which will be heavy at times. Winds under 20 mph from the South and South West. Temps of 5C to 9C

Thursday – Rain and showers these will be heavy at times. Plenty of cloud. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 mph for Uist and Barra. Temps of 6C to 11C

Hogmanay – An overcast with rain and showers these heavy at times. Winds of 20 to 40 mph from the North East. Temps of 6C to 11C

Next weekend – Brisk winds and showers. Turning colder for a time at the weekend. Milder for the Sunday
