New Years Day forecast – Welcome to 2022

Good evening Western Isles on this Friday evening rain and drizzle moving across the islands. This is heavy in places. Plenty of cloud with some mist and low cloud. Winds under 20 mph and today’s high of 9.6C

Overnight – a mixture of clear skies and cloud with rain and showers. Winds will increase gusting 40 to 50 mph by the end of the night.

Morning and afternoon – Rain and showers these heavy at times. Some sunny spells. Showers merging into some longer spells of rain at times. Some decent spells of sunshine in the breaks in the cloud. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph at times some gusts will reach 70 mph during mid morning and late afternoon as winds shift from the South East to the South West.

Evening – A mixture of clear skies and cloud. Scattered showers heavy at times. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph.

Winds will be from the South East shifting South West. Temps of 8C to 15C

Sunday – Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph with spells of rain heavy at times. Some sunny spells. Winds will be from the South West. Temps of 6C to 12C

Monday – Squally showers wintry at times. Brisk winds gusting 20 to 40 mph. From the North West. Temps of 2C to 8C

Tuesday – Colder day with wintry showers. Winds will be from the North and Temps of 2C to 6C

Wednesday – Heavy rain once again with winds gusting 50 to 60 mph. Winds will be from the South West. Temps of 2C to 8C
