You may or may not have noticed that a certain website that likes to use bright colours is showing extremely strong winds for tomorrow.
Now I can see why this would concern people and I have had people ask me about this. This website gets its data from the GFS which seems to be a bit of an outlier in the computer models in showing very strong winds for us in the islands with suggestions of 80/90 mph winds. With an area of low pressure moving past the islands.
None of the other model data that I have is showing that at all. Maybe 50/60 mph seems to the next the highest from the Met Office, European model, the German and the France one. None are showing winds that strong. They all keep the strongest of the winds offshore.
As of 14:30 no Met Office warnings have been issued. At this stage I don’t see it getting that bad for us here. Not sure why the GFS is so focused on the strongest of the winds hitting us. I will keep you updated.
Please do NOT use Western Isles Weather for the protection of life and property please follow local and national government issued warnings and advice. Please have more than one source for weather information in extreme weather, Such as the Met office.
