On this New Years morning we are seeing some rain and showers moving across the Western isles. But for most it’s a dry but overcast start. A sharp contrast in wind speed with 55 mph being recorded at south Uist and under 20 mph for Stornoway. A mild overnight low of 10.2C
Today – rain and showers becoming drier later. Sunshine and cloud. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50/60 mph in some more exposed spots reaching 70 mph. Winds will be from the South and South West. Temps of 7C to 12C
Sunday – spells of heavy rain and blustery winds raining gale force at times .
Monday and Tuesday – rain and showers with brisk winds and feeling colder. Risk of some of these showed being wintry.
